I now actually kind of want to know what happens with the other brooches, but I will not buy them. So if I ever see them at the library I might subject myself to the others and see if the author improves. I mean seriously she has to have realized how unbalanced this one was.
Oh and who was Heather Marie Murray? Jul 23, Jan Miller rated it it was amazing. I loved this book! Typically I do not listen to time travel romances, but I am so glad that I listened to this one. The narrator did a fantastic job with the various voices and accents and characters. I found this story totally captivated me and it is a complete listen.
Romance books: All time favorites
I am hooked on the story of Katerina and the Ruby Brooch. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Some aspects of the story were a little unbelievable, but remember it's fiction. I loved the fact that Kat was such a I loved this book! I loved the fact that Kat was such a strong and smart character. She was resourceful and wanted to find her family.
I will listen to this book again and thought it was worth a credit. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review I listened to the audio version of this book. I really thought the premise of the book was pretty cool--a current day paramedic going back in time to try to find out who her parents were.

Some of the particulars of the book would be a little hard to swallow if you wanted to pick it apart she time travels with a wagon full of present day supplies plus her cat, dog and horse , but I chose to just go with the flow and enjoy the story. The one thing I found really hard to ignore, however, was the t I listened to the audio version of this book. The one thing I found really hard to ignore, however, was the time difference.
Kit grandfather dies in How can she be of child bearing age in ? The highlight was the faith and belief Cullen had in Kit and the love they had for each other that crossed the ages. Something that really enhanced the story was the narration by Teri Schnaubelt. Her natural voice is very pleasant to listen to and the brogue was great! Mar 15, Mich Must Read rated it it was ok Shelves: flux-capacitors. I got hooked into the words I thought it would be but I got. Aug 02, Juliette rated it really liked it. It had time travel, adventure, history, humor and a love story that spans 2 centuries.
This book was a lot of fun, and I plan on listening to the next one for sure.
If you like some sci-fi with your romance, you won't be disappointed. Terri Schnaubelt did a great job narrating. I really loved her Scottish accent. I would absolutely listen to more books narrated by her. Happy reading! Jul 13, Kathleen rated it did not like it. I bought this as an audiobook for a long car ride. It was so horrible, I decided listening to Spanish Radio I don't speak Spanish infinitely preferable. Audible suggested the book because I have listened to and enjoyed Susanna Kearsley's and Diana Gabaldon's stories, and it came with primarily 5-star reviews on Audible, Amazon, and goodreads; a fact I find mind-boggling.
I have never returned a book to Audible as unreadable before, but this book was terrible. If you're a person who enjoys histo I bought this as an audiobook for a long car ride. If you're a person who enjoys historical fiction because you're interested in the time period the story takes place in, you will be sorely disappointed in this book. The writer clearly did very little research, either about the history of the period, or about the conditions faced by various classes of people during this time. The book is poorly edited, both for basic grammar and construction, and for plausibility and continuity.

I knew this was a time travel story going in —I like time travel— but this story has no logic, the history is almost non-existent, and the characters feel completely manufactured. They are all cookie cutter: the wounded, brave heroine; the shadowed, devastatingly handsome hero; the crusty heart-of-gold sidekick: the vulnerable child who reminds the heroine of her self, etc. There is no feeling of the time, no sense of the peril a woman would have encountered, and no realistic reaction from any of the characters to a woman so completely unable to tone down her modernity, either in her behavior or in seriously concealing the enormous stash of 21st century goods she brings with her.
To make it worse, in the audiobook, the narrator butchers the Scots accents of two of the characters beyond recognition, rendering them in stereotyped Irish brogue. The rest of the character accents are less bad, but none of them are good.
Book 1: Celtic Brooch Series
The narrator also reads the syntax and grammar errors as is. The thing that ruined this book beyond redemption is that the main character is a flaming marysue- she is beautiful, she is filthy rich, she can do everything: her EMT training leaves her able to instantly diagnose and treat cholera and a host of other maladies that would more likely require a medical degree.
She is an expert horseman, a crack shot with an armory at her disposal , a martial artist , an amazing swimmer, and able to sway the men of the s with her amazing arguments, no matter how much she disregards the mores and rules of the time. She has brought her 21st century digital toys with her, and finds they all work in the 19th century, and always when she needs them most.
She is supposedly an experienced historical re-enactment player, yet she brings no period underwear. The lead character makes several references to the need not to pollute the past with her knowledge of the future, and she had not revealed anything substantial at the point I abandoned the book, but her behavior in entering into this different society would make anyone with any cultural sensitivity cringe.
This might have been an interesting part of the story, except that the writer takes pains to tell us that the lead character, perfect in all ways, has excellent understanding of the time and the customs. Instead, we get a book where the interactions between characters are forced, conflicts are resolved not because the involved characters work them out, but because the resolution suits the author's purpose.
The idea for the story is interesting, but when told with every bad romance trope, poorly drawn characters and only a passing nod to history, and with a plot that is more a fanfiction mashup than original idea, the result is thoroughly disappointing. All her life, Kit has seen a ghost hovering around the family grave at The Macklenna Farm. Who is he and what does he want?epranysbuschting.tk
The Last MacKlenna: The Celtic Brooch, Book 2 (Unabridged) on Apple Books
After her parents die in a car crash, Kit rummages through their effects only to discover they were not her parents. She was left on their doorstep in a bundle of bloody rags. With her horse tethered to the wagon, her dog and cat hop on board as she recites the Celtic inscription. Her amazing adventure is about to start, but is thwarted by a handsome man, Cullen who will not allow women to travel alone. Kit is immediately attracted to Cullen. Is he the ghost of Macklenna Farm? The journey is fraught with many dangers, floods, wide river crossings, steep drops, stampeding buffalo, bandits, snakes, but most of all, Kit is frightened of being declared a witch if her purpose is discovered.
What Kit never expected was to fall in love, but can she share that love with a man from a different century? Katherine Logan has weaved an intricate tale in the classic western mode spiced up with the fantasy elements of time travel. I had goose bumps all over when I finished this work of brilliance and am eager for the next instalment. A riveting five star read. Go download it right now. Mar 10, Terri rated it it was amazing. I have this book in both eBook format and audio format. I always choose the audios when possible as the narrators tend to breath life into the stories like a heart beat!
Even if you read this book, listen to it again in audio and it is like a whole different story! Audios also allow us to be hands free while we read and drive, work, walk, even clean a house! What a great story. The author is genius for the story line. I truly enjoye I have this book in both eBook format and audio format.
